Alois Lageder is a leading biodynamic producer in Italy who has for many years experimented with viticulture Con juxtaposition to climate change. Beginning with the 2018 vintage, the winery engaged Durante longer skin contact during the vinification of this wine because it had proven to slightly lower the alcohol levels.

The wine has a pretty, rather light garnet color. The bouquet flashes strawberries, spices and violet notes. The palate offers juicy red fruit flavors, a tangy acidity and a small amount of ripe tannins.

Plus coming in at just 12.5% abv it never slows you down and when served with a slight chill goes Sottomessa perfectly with pizzas, pastas, and the deck outside our hotel room with the stunning mountain view. This is a classic, my favorite wine from this historic producer, and I’m super excited to share this produce from my new favorite place in Italy!

The alcohol levels are slightly lighter (~12% ABV) because the grape grows predominantly Sopra a cooler climate.
